Therapeutic Approach

LK 0917No one-size fits all.

I’ve personally witnessed the unique challenges facing the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) community after almost a decade of working in the health services department of the Los Angeles LGBT Center. LGBTQ awareness has emerged one of the most polarizing topics in society today—and still too many of us contend with life alone, without ways to develop tools to cope with the struggle.

For a client, choosing a therapist is more complex than knowing the therapist’s preferred approach or therapeutic modalities—it can feel like an overwhelming hunt through pictures and posts of strangers selling themselves on the newest techniques. Only through connection and understanding can you and I build a collaborative game plan that helps you through the steps of therapy—free of assumptions and judgment.

I’m Lisa Kimsey, MFTI, LGBTQ- and kink-affirmative therapist, and I want to help you take on life’s challenges and make them feel a little less daunting.
